Three Wheeled Buggies

Whether you're looking for a buggy to run with or just a compact stroller for the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies offer great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to manoeuvre even in tight spaces.

If you want a smooth ride with your baby, select models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. They are prone, however to punctures. Make sure you have an emergency repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies, the symbol of the noughties that had more money than common sense, are in rapid decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers that can handle a wider range of terrain, while also looking elegant and easy to push.

The larger the wheels are the better your buggy will cope with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear allow you to move and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with the newborn baby and a toddler and found it very durable. It was able to handle cobbles, grass and rough pavements as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt sturdy to push, and very solid on difficult terrain. Its tyres, which are inflatable and need to be pumped up occasionally and have a suspension built-in. This was very comfortable for my kids.

The size and shape of the seat is another aspect to think about. You'll want it to be large enough for your child's comfort and you will also require it to recline for them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies offer the option of reclining completely, while others allow the parent to be facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and muddy walks. The buggy can be used as a single unit from birth, and then expands to take two children when your family expands. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth to age 4, and comes with a bumper with a rain cover, an upgraded 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat. The storage options are great as well, with a large basket, zip pockets inside the hood and an attractive pouch at the back of the seat unit.

Wheels with a greater diameter

Larger wheels mean your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - perfect for off-road buggies. They also allow you to navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with rotating wheels on the front, which assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock for greater speed and stability. This also helps in the event that you hit an unintentional tree root or curb, since the front wheel will rise up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.

A lot of  3 wheeled pushchair  s come with air-filled tyres that allow them to tackle a broad range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. However, they are prone to punctures, so you'll need to keep a repair kit, spare inner tube and pump handy.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are among our favorite 3-wheelers. These buggies, according to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels, which, she says "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to climb or descend kerbs. They also have suspensions that Kath says "smooths out bumps very effectively".

The drawback of having larger wheels is that they make buggies quite large and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This is an issue if you're using it as an exercise bike or to maneuver through narrow doorways when out and about. Fortunately, the majority of models come with compact folding options that allow you to take off the front wheels for more compact storage.

Easy to Manoeuvre

One of the primary benefits to a three wheel buggy is that it can be much more maneuverable particularly with a child in tow. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels turn at a whim and are extremely easy to maneuver, making them ideal for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles and bumpy pavements as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler, and she said: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive on uneven terrain. The swivel wheel in the front was particularly useful." I was also awed by the way it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when in the downhills or on a rough terrain."

The only drawback to this amazing maneuverability is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something to keep in mind when your home is a city. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better choice for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars are a great way to protect your little one from bumps and scrapes when out and about. They are easy and quick to install and make your child feel secure and safe while out on the town or tackling tough terrain.

This bumper bar was designed to complement the sleek lines on your Slim Twin stroller. It comes with a soft, padded surface that provides a comfortable surface for your child to hold onto while walking. The sturdy construction and durable design will ensure that your child will enjoy strolling around town without having to worry about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far forward.

The sling seat is in the frame, snugly as opposed to over it as modular seats, delivering the lowest centre of gravity at the appropriate height for your newborn and also delivering an excellent weight distribution to facilitate kerb pop (it requires less effort to push the buggy over and up a curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it was great on grass and cobbles. It's also a good alternative for running, thanks to its tyres that are filled with air and a lockable swivel wheel.

This bumper bar is sure to make heads turn wherever it's used. It has a sophisticated and elegant look. Available in a variety of finishes and colours, it can be customized to suit your personal style. It comes with a simple quick-release mechanism that makes it simple to install and remove the bumper bar when needed. Furthermore the bumper bar is easy to clean and is made of sturdy materials that are easy to clean. This makes it an excellent choice for families looking for a stylish and safe stroller accessory.

Comfort

A 3-wheel buggy is the best off-road vehicle for maneuverability and performance. With the perfect geometry and weight distribution, this type of buggy can turn on a dime and be a breeze to steer using just one hand. Mountain Buggies are tested to the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as 4-wheel buggies.

The sport's clever design puts the sling seat made of fabric inside the frame, not sitting on top as modular seats. This allows it to have lower center of gravity and makes it easier to push, has a less weighty curb-pop (you won't need to exert as much effort to lift the buggy's front end over the curb), and offers greater stability and balance. With  3 wheel pushchair  measuring 16 inches, lockable swivel front wheel and tyres with air that only require occasional pumping, you get smooth, bump-free rides over rough terrain, and a smoother more comfortable jog too.

As the only all-terrain pushchair in our collection that comes with a parent-facing seat that can also accommodate a carrycot or car seat to ensure the future of your family and enjoy every adventure from day dot and into the future and all within the footprint of one buggy!

Kath the MFM reviewer, also appreciated the space of the buggy. There's a huge easy-to-access basket that's quite spacious for a buggy of this size, plus there's an excellent zip-up pouch on the rear of the seat unit and even two smaller mesh pockets in the hood for your phone and keys.
